This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the PCB-Vault desktop application ("Software") and our website at pcbvault.com ("Website").

The Core Principle

PCB-Vault is designed as an offline-first application. We do not store, host, or have access to your Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designs, Gerbers, BOMs, or schematics. Your engineering data remains solely on your local hardware or your private local network.

2. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide to Us (Billing & Licensing)

When you purchase a license for PCB-Vault, we collect:

Contact Information: Name, email address, and company name.
Billing Information: Payment details (processed securely via our third-party payment processors like Stripe or PayPal; we do not store full credit card numbers).
Hardware Identifier: A cryptographic hash of your computer's hardware (CPU/Motherboard ID) used solely to lock your license to your specific machine.

B. Information We Do NOT Collect

Unlike cloud-based tools, our architecture ensures we have zero access to:

Your project files (Gerbers, ODB++, Excellon drill files).
Your Bill of Materials (BOMs).
Your component libraries or schematics.
The encryption keys used to secure your Vault.

3. How We Use Your Information

License Validation: To ensure your software copy is legitimate and unlocked for your specific hardware.
Customer Support: To respond to your inquiries via email.
Transaction Processing: To process payments and send invoices/receipts.
Product Updates: To notify you of critical security patches or new feature releases.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your Data (Designs): Stored locally on your device. Encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. We cannot decrypt this data even if compelled by law enforcement, as we do not possess the keys.
Our Data (Billing): Stored on secure servers managed by industry-standard providers.
